This course is based on the 'Uthmani script used in the Madinah Mus-haf. This script and the way in which the vowels and other signs are written make the art and science of reading the Qur'an clear and precise. This Teacher's/Self Study Edition contains full explanatory notes in English for each page of the Arabic text. The entire Arabic text is recorded on CDs and audio tapes. Each unit and each line of text is numbered to make it easy to follow the text and the recording. The recording can also be used with the Students' Edition.

Let's Begin to Read Arabic~Dr V Abdur Rahim~This book does not follow the conventional approach to teaching the Arabic alphabet. This new and innovative method is successfully being used in certain parts of the world and has considerably shortened the learning time.

In this book, Arabic sounds that are identical to English are presented first, then those similar, then finally the sounds that are totally different. The letters are presented with long vowel signs from the very beginning (Only sounds are learnt and not their names). Each lesson contains only one new element (a consonant, a vowel, a phonetic rule or an spelling rule). The student is advised to learn every lesson thoroughly before passing on to the next. The student is encouraged to try to read every word and then check it with a teacher or by listening to the accompanying tapes.
